A return to my childhood.
In some ways, I blame myself. In other ways, I really don't.
Suffice to say, my wife may have lined up a sitter for Saturday after next...
so that we can preview 4th ed. Dungeons and Dragons.
This is, I want to point out, her idea. Not mine. Sure. I know how to play D and D. Sure, I grew up playing D and D. But I did not, under any circumstances, initiate this revival.
My wife, one day, simply asked me if I would like to get a Dungeons and Dragons group together. I was successful at such endeavor. I volunteered to run the game, and the rest has fallen into place. I did not ask her to play. I made no comments that I would like to take up the game again. Nothing of that sort. Until my wife asked me to play, I hadn't really played a role playing game for about 8 years. I certainly would not have chosen D and D had it been up to me as I prefer Vampire and Call of Cthulhu, but I digress.
So, if you want to comment on how geeky it is that my wife and I have a baby sitter so that we can play the new Dungeons and Dragons on the day it comes out, do it on her blog.
I have an adventure to design and have no time to read such comments. This 3.5 CR rating system is just plain lousy by the way. Whatever happened to #appearing: 1-8?

In my opinion, Wizards of the Coast ruined the game with 3rd edition in much the way they ruined Magic: The Gathering. Now there are going to be constant new 'versions' that people will have to spend money on to stay up-to-date. Soon, they will be coming out with a new version of D&D every month. Nobody will play the same version, and the pen and paper classic will have been destroyed.
Destruction of the game that started it all, by the company that gave in to pressure from religious fanatics and dumped the Demonic Tutor card.
