Am I missing something?

Okay, so, in less than four months I have heard two stories of parents who have driven to work, gone to work, and come out of work to find that they forgot to drop their kid off at daycare and now their child is dead.

What the f is going on? I mean, are these people stupid? Are they too medicated? I don't remember hearing about this kind of thing happening before--is it the result of some weird kind of craziness of which mankind will perhaps never fully understand. Are the stars all wrong? I mean, what the fuck causes you to drive to work and forget that you've got a child in the backseat?

We are devolving, people. This is proof.

This happens all of the time, except that it used to be dogs that died in the car. Then an ad campaign started that made it seem 'evil' to leave one's pet in a car. At least roll down the window.

Apparently, some sort of awareness campaign concerning not leaving one's children in the car will be next. Soon, it will be 'evil' to leave a child in the car unattended.

Also, a lot of times it seems like something has never happened before simply because the media took no notice of such events in the past. In the previous century, when Mr. and Mrs. Hopkins left their baby in the buggy all night and the baby froze, the only place you'd read about it would be in the baby's obituary. These days, when somebody's misery is 'news' such events are highly publicized.

There is also a likelihood that such events are happening more frequently due to a general lack of responsibility and the destruction of priorities by today's society.
