that meeting I'm not going to
Here's a weird one for you,
At one of the colleges where I work, there is a mandatory meeting for all the faculty. It is on a Saturday and will take all day. I only work there once in a while. I'm not working there now. I will be in early November. So, am I required to go to this meeting if I don't work there at the time of the meeting? True, I will get paid for the meeting, but then I'll have to listen to people pat themselves on the backs for the great students that they have, and well...their students aren't worthy of that much back patting.
Also, I went last year and I was the only part time faculty member in attendance. I don't know if things have changed for this year, but I think that sets a precedent.
Also, after I went last year, they screwed something up and I didn't end up teaching there that semester. I'm just saying; maybe I've earned a leave.
I guess the point here is: I'm not going to that meeting.
