A true definition of power
I am, as I write this, on the phone with Credit Inform. There a service that charges me 4.99 on my Capital One card. I'm trying to cancel that card, but of course I can't because Credit Inform keeps charging me money. I have been on the phone with Credit Inform for twenty minutes now because, of course, Capital One will not simply stop charging me for services to a card I've cancelled. After I get done here at Credit Inform, I will have to call Payment Protection to get rid of their .29 charge that also keeps my card open. After I get one of these bastards on the phone, I am then going to make a voodoo doll of the owner of credit inform and put it in one of those old fashioned meat grinders.
This is why our society needs medication.

My wife had a Capitol One card. I made her destroy it even though she no longer uses it. Technically, it isn't cancelled yet because her balance is a few thousand dollars and they won't let her close out the account unless... yep, 0 balance. This is the first credit card company I've ever heard of doing this. In the past, I've probably cancelled a couple of cards when the balance got too high. Eventually I paid them back, but at least they weren't charging me 20% each month on what I owed since I was able to cancel. These bastards keep charging interest, even though we've let them know we wanted the account cancelled. This is why credit card companies are being investigated, or at least one of the reasons, no doubt.
